I never really left

How do you start a blog post after four years?

“Hi, I’m back”? “I’ve returned after four years”?

When, in fact, I never really left.

I’ve kept posting on social media — mostly on Instagram and, a little less often, on YouTube.

And I’ve kept coming in here, into our home, to keep it clean and up to date, and also to find myself again. Yes, to find that Núria who wrote so passionately about travel and inclusion, always excited to share. And that Núria is still here, with just as much — if not more — to tell you.

A sheer rock wall, covered in vegetation from top to bottom and threaded with thin ribbons of waterfalls, drops into the waters of a fiord. Below, sailing right up against it, the boat Milford Haven looks like a toy.
Milford Sound, New Zealand.

So why wasn’t I writing? You might be wondering. Or maybe not.

Well, there isn’t really one particular reason. It was just one day after another, the “I’ll do it later”, the “I need to find a moment to sit down and concentrate”, and also the extra effort that everything to do with the visual side of a post takes me as a blind person: choosing and uploading photos that illustrate what I’m telling you, getting them to sit properly on the page, and finally being happy with the result.

In fact, I hadn’t even realised it had been four years since I last wrote. I never meant to leave the blog. The days simply went by and, without me noticing, they turned into years.

But here I am again! And with a pile of things to tell you.

Núria, Eric and Juanjo on a Dublin street on St Patrick’s Day. Núria is laughing with her eyes closed, wearing a green hoodie with a shiny shamrock and a Minnie Mouse-style bow in the colours of the Irish flag; Eric wears an IRELAND T-shirt and huge glasses with the flag on them; Juanjo, glittery glasses topped with two leprechaun hats. Behind them, a crowd just as green.

Mind you, I’m not promising perfect consistency, or any particular order to everything that’s happened over these years, because I don’t want to commit to anything other than telling whatever I feel like telling, whenever I feel like telling it.

That’s me: a slightly chaotic Gemini whose thoughts pile up in her fingers and who never knows where to start… or when to stop.
